Understanding the cost of a medical procedure before you commit to it is not unreasonable it is essential planning. At KIMS Secunderabad, we believe patients deserve transparent cost information, including what is and is not covered by insurance, what the all-in hospital estimate includes, and what optional components might vary the final figure. This guide covers our most frequently enquired procedures from kidney transplant and dialysis to stone surgery, prostate surgery, robotic surgery, and kidney biopsy.
Every cost on this page is an estimate from the KIMS billing team based on standard packages at the time of publication. Actual costs vary based on room category, duration of stay, anaesthesia type, implant requirements, and individual clinical complexity. For a personalised estimate before your procedure, contact the KIMS billing desk on 040 - 44885000 or visit our billing department at KIMS Secunderabad, Minister Road. Insurance pre-authorisation is managed by the KIMS billing team for Aarogyasri, CGHS, EHS, and all major private TPA policies.
KIMS is empanelled under Aarogyasri (PMJAY), CGHS, and EHS — covering kidney transplant, dialysis, and several other procedures in this guide. If you hold one of these cards, your out-of-pocket cost may be significantly lower than the self-pay figures below. Bring your card to the KIMS billing desk at the first consultation pre-authorisation takes time, and beginning it early avoids delays.

Aarogyasri (PMJAY) at KIMS. KIMS Secunderabad is empanelled under Aarogyasri (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana — PMJAY) for eligible procedures including kidney transplant, haemodialysis, PCNL, RIRS, HoLEP, TURP, AV fistula, and kidney biopsy. Aarogyasri covers the procedure up to the defined package rate — costs above the package rate are charged at actual. The KIMS billing team manages pre-authorisation and scheme reconciliation.
CGHS and EHS empanelment. KIMS is empanelled under Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) for central government employees and pensioners, and under Employees Health Scheme (EHS) for state government employees of Telangana. Most major procedures in this guide are covered under CGHS and EHS at KIMS at CGHS-approved rates. Pre-authorisation is required for elective procedures.
Private health insurance (TPA policies). KIMS has TPA tie-ups with all major private health insurance providers. Pre-authorisation is required for planned admissions. The KIMS insurance desk assists with pre-authorisation documents, estimate letters, and discharge summaries. Contact the KIMS billing desk on 040 - 44885000 before admission to confirm your insurer's empanelment status with KIMS.
What Aarogyasri does NOT cover. Aarogyasri covers the specific procedure listed in the health benefit package — it does not cover private room upgrades above the category specified, personal consumables, or procedures not listed in the PMJAY health benefit package. Some components of the ABO-incompatible transplant protocol (rituximab, additional plasmapheresis sessions) may not be included in the transplant package — confirm with the KIMS billing team at consultation.
The estimates in this guide are based on standard single/twin occupancy room stay, standard anaesthesia, and average procedure duration. The factors that most commonly cause the actual cost to differ from the estimate:
Room category — general ward, twin sharing, single room, and suite carry different accommodation rates per day. The estimate is based on a specific room category — upgrading or downgrading affects the total.
Length of stay — kidney transplant stays vary from 7 to 14+ days depending on rejection episodes, surgical complications, and dialysis weaning. Longer stays increase accommodation and monitoring costs.
ICU requirement — procedures requiring planned or unplanned ICU admission carry higher daily rates than ward stays. CRRT in the ICU is billed per day of therapy.
Implant and consumable costs — AV graft (synthetic tube, used when fistula creation is not possible) carries material cost. Robotic surgery consumable use (single-use robotic instruments) is included in the robotic surgery package estimate.
Concurrent procedures — patients who require stone removal and BPH surgery simultaneously, or kidney biopsy during a dialysis admission, incur combined procedure costs that are typically lower than two separate admissions but higher than the individual procedure estimate.
Complication management — surgical complications (post-biopsy bleeding, urinary leak after transplant, catheter infection) incur additional investigation and treatment costs. These are not predictable in advance but the KIMS team discusses complication likelihood at the pre-operative consent consultation.
