Kidney & Urology Treatment in India — International Patient Services at KIMS Secunderabad

Each year, patients from across the world travel to India for kidney and urological care — driven by access to procedures unavailable in their home countries, shorter waiting times than national health systems, internationally accredited hospitals, and costs that make world-class treatment financially achievable. KIMS Institute of Renal Sciences & Advanced Urology, Secunderabad, is one of India's most established destinations for international patients seeking kidney transplant, ABO-incompatible transplant, advanced stone surgery, robotic urological oncology, and prostate treatment — including TULSA-PRO, available in India exclusively at KIMS.

We understand that deciding to travel abroad for medical treatment involves significant questions — about clinical credentials, about safety, about logistics, and about what happens after you return home. Our international patient programme is built to answer every one of those questions before you book a flight. The starting point for every international patient at KIMS is not an admission form — it is a teleconsultation. You speak to the specialist who will treat you, share your medical records, and receive a clinical assessment and treatment recommendation before committing to travel. We believe this is the right way to begin.

Start here

Before travelling to India, book a teleconsultation with the relevant KIMS specialist. Send your medical records, imaging, and biopsy reports in advance. The specialist will review everything and give you a clear clinical recommendation — what treatment is needed, what the expected outcomes are, and what the realistic timeline looks like. No travel commitment required at this stage.

Why patients choose KIMS for kidney care

1,500+ kidney transplants performed — including ABO-incompatible (blood group mismatch) and swap (paired kidney exchange) transplants. For patients told their blood group rules out a living donor transplant, KIMS provides an option most centres worldwide cannot.

India's first and only TULSA-PRO centre — MRI-guided, incision-free prostate cancer and BPH treatment, FDA-cleared, available nowhere else in India.

Da Vinci Xi AND X robotic platforms — for nerve-sparing prostate cancer surgery (RARP), nephron-sparing kidney cancer surgery (RAPN), and radical cystectomy (RARC).

NABH and NABL accredited — the national accreditation standards for Indian hospitals and laboratories. NABL-accredited pathology laboratory performing complete kidney biopsy workup (light microscopy, immunofluorescence, electron microscopy) in-house.

NOTTO registered — for deceased donor kidney transplant listing under the national organ transplant organisation.

24/7 availability — CRRT for critical care kidney failure, emergency dialysis, and deceased donor transplant calls are managed around the clock.

No — the first step is a teleconsultation with the relevant KIMS specialist via video call. You share your medical records in advance, and the specialist reviews them before the call. At the teleconsultation, you receive a clinical assessment, a treatment recommendation, and an indication of whether travelling to KIMS is appropriate for your situation. Many patients receive a clear 'yes, we can treat this — here is the plan' at the first teleconsultation. Travel to India is the next step only after that assessment is complete.

All clinical consultations at KIMS are conducted in English. All medical records, reports, correspondence, and discharge summaries are produced in English. If you require interpretation in another language, please advise the International Patient Coordinator in advance — arrangements can be made for several languages for an additional fee.
