International Patients · Patient Services & Facilities
Coming to a hospital in another country involves questions beyond the clinical — who coordinates my care, who do I call if something changes after I return home, how does my insurance work here, and what does my room look like? This page answers all of those questions for KIMS Renal Sciences international patients.
Every international patient at KIMS is assigned a dedicated International Patient Coordinator from the point of enquiry through to final post-discharge follow-up. The coordinator is the single point of contact for all non-clinical aspects of your care:
Responds to initial enquiry · Collects and forwards medical records to the treating specialist · Schedules the pre-travel teleconsultation · Provides the written treatment plan and cost estimate · Issues the visa invitation letter for Medical Visa application · Arranges airport transfer (on request) · Recommends accommodation options · Confirms admission date and logistics.
Meets you on arrival at KIMS (or at the airport if arranged) · Liaises between you or your family and the clinical team · Assists with understanding treatment updates and reports · Manages billing queries and insurance pre-authorisation · Coordinates translation support if needed (advise language requirement in advance) · Arranges any supplementary services (pharmacy, physiotherapy, dietary consultation).
Dispatches discharge summary, investigation results, imaging (CD or digital), and pathology reports to you by courier or digital transfer · Schedules remote follow-up video consultation with the treating specialist · Provides ongoing support for prescription queries, medication sourcing in your home country, and any questions arising during recovery · Arranges return to KIMS if any complication or concern warrants in-person review.
All communication with the KIMS International Patient Coordinator is in English. For time-zone convenience, the coordinator is reachable by WhatsApp and email in addition to phone. Response within 4 working hours on Indian working days (Monday to Saturday).
Teleconsultation is the cornerstone of the KIMS international patient pathway — it is step one, not step five. Before any patient is asked to travel to India, the KIMS Patient Relations team arranges a video call between the patient and the relevant specialist. The specialist reviews medical records and imaging before the call, so the consultation time is spent on clinical discussion, not administration. There is no platform to download or account to create — the Patient Relations team sends a simple video link by email or WhatsApp at the confirmed time.
Teleconsultation is also available for:
KIMS works with major international health insurance providers and TPA policies. To confirm whether your specific policy has an arrangement with KIMS or can be used for treatment in India, provide your insurer name, policy number, and the procedure you are seeking to the KIMS billing team at assistance@kimshospitals.com — the billing team will verify coverage and initiate pre-authorisation where applicable.
A written cost estimate for your planned procedure is provided following the teleconsultation and medical records review. The estimate specifies what is included (surgical fee, anaesthesia, room, standard monitoring) and what is not. It is based on standard package rates confirmed by the KIMS billing team — not indicative figures from a website.
A deposit is required to confirm the admission date for planned procedures. The amount and payment method (card, wire transfer) are confirmed by the billing team at the time of booking. The balance is settled on discharge.
