24/7 Dialysis Care

Dialysis Centre at KIMS — 24/7 Kidney Replacement Therapy, Secunderabad

When the kidneys can no longer adequately filter waste from the blood, dialysis takes over this function keeping you alive and as well as possible while your care team plans the next steps, whether that is long-term dialysis management or a kidney transplant. The KIMS Dialysis Centre at Secunderabad operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) for critically ill ICU patients.

Our dialysis units use certified reverse osmosis water treatment systems, maintain strict infection control protocols, and operate dedicated hepatitis B-segregated bays ensuring patient safety is never compromised. Beyond the clinical care, our renal dietitian and dialysis coordinators work with every patient on fluid management, diet, medication, and lifestyle because how well patients feel between sessions is as important as the sessions themselves.

KIMS also runs one of Telangana's most active peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) training programmes enabling eligible patients to perform dialysis at home, giving them greater independence and flexibility. All vascular access services — AV fistula creation, graft placement, and tunnelled catheter insertion are available on-site, so dialysis patients do not need to be referred to another hospital for access-related care.

What makes KIMS Dialysis Centre different

24/7 availability — including emergency dialysis

Most dialysis centres operate scheduled sessions during business hours. KIMS provides round-the-clock access including emergency dialysis for patients presenting acutely with kidney failure, and bedside dialysis for patients too unwell to be moved to the dialysis unit.

CRRT for the most critically ill patients

CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) is a specialised form of slow, gentle dialysis for ICU patients with unstable blood pressure or multi-organ failure. KIMS provides CRRT 24 hours a day — a capability available at only a limited number of centres in Telangana.

All vascular access on-site

AV fistula creation, graft placement, and tunnelled catheter insertion are performed at KIMS by our interventional nephrologists — including Dr. E. Ravi, who specialises in tunnelled catheter placement. Dialysis patients do not need a separate referral for access surgery.

Active CAPD programme — dialysis from home

KIMS runs a structured peritoneal dialysis training programme for eligible patients — enabling home-based dialysis with regular follow-up and 24-hour emergency support. Home dialysis significantly improves quality of life and is often more cost-effective over the long term.

Common Questions from Women

CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) is a slow, gentle form of dialysis specifically for critically ill ICU patients. Unlike standard haemodialysis which removes fluid and toxins rapidly over 3–5 hours CRRT works slowly and continuously over 24 hours. This gentle approach is essential for patients with unstable blood pressure or multi-organ failure who cannot tolerate the rapid fluid shifts of conventional dialysis. KIMS provides CRRT 24 hours a day for ICU patients.

Yes, through peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). KIMS runs a structured training programme where you and a family carer learn to perform dialysis exchanges at home typically 4 times per day, each taking 20–30 minutes. Automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) using a cycler machine overnight is also available. After training at KIMS, our dialysis nurses provide home visits and 24-hour phone support during the transition.
