Dr. E. Ravi is KIMS Secunderabad's specialist in critical care nephrology and acute kidney injury — the nephrologist called when a patient in the ICU develops acute kidney failure, dangerous hyperkalaemia, or fluid overload that cannot wait. His DM Nephrology programme at Osmania General Hospital was topped with Rank 1 in the statewide entrance examination in 2009, and he achieved the highest marks statewide in the final DM examination in 2012 — credentials that reflect the academic rigour underpinning his clinical practice.
After completing DM Nephrology, Dr. Ravi held consultancy positions at Kamineni Hospitals LB Nagar, Apollo Hospitals, and served briefly as Assistant Professor of Nephrology at DCMS before joining KIMS Secunderabad in August 2013. At KIMS, he leads the critical care nephrology and CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) programme — providing 24/7 kidney replacement therapy for haemodynamically unstable ICU patients who cannot tolerate standard intermittent haemodialysis.
Dr. Ravi's specific expertise in interventional nephrology — tunnelled central venous catheter placement for dialysis access, and ultrasound-guided kidney biopsy — makes him the nephrologist who bridges the gap between nephrology and procedural medicine. His research background in neurological involvement in CKD and kidney involvement in skeletal fluorosis reflects an academic curiosity that continuously informs his clinical approach to complex and atypical kidney presentations.
