Dr. V. S. Reddy is the senior-most nephrologist at the KIMS Institute of Renal Sciences & Advanced Urology, Secunderabad, with nephrology practice experience spanning over two decades. He trained at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad — one of South India's premier postgraduate medical institutions — completing his MD in Internal Medicine and DM in Nephrology at the same institution where he also won the Best Resident Award in 2001 and the Smt Lakshmi Kothandaraman Memorial Gold Medal for best published research work in 2002.
After completing his DM Nephrology, Dr. V. S. Reddy served as Assistant Professor of Nephrology at NIMS before taking up a consultant position at Bolleneni Hospitals, Nellore. He joined KIMS Secunderabad in May 2005, where he has built and led the kidney transplant and nephrology programme for over two decades. His clinical scope covers all aspects of nephrology — from the earliest stages of CKD through to kidney transplantation, including ABO-incompatible transplant protocols and paired kidney exchange (swap) transplants.
As the lead transplant nephrologist at KIMS, Dr. V. S. Reddy oversees the pre-transplant evaluation, donor-recipient workup, transplant immunosuppression initiation, and lifelong post-transplant monitoring for the KIMS programme of 1,500+ transplants. His specific expertise in ABO-incompatible transplantation — using rituximab desensitisation and plasmapheresis protocols — means that patients referred to KIMS after being told 'blood group mismatch excludes transplant' have an option that most other centres cannot provide.
